Terms of Service

PubTriviaprovides a live quiz hosting platform that allows venue operators (“Hosts”) to run trivia quiz nights. Players join sessions via QR codes without creating an account.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering you confirm that you meet this requirement. The Service is intended for use in a commercial context (pubs, bars, and similar licensed venues).

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@pubtrivia.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their permission, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

4.1 Free trial

New accounts receive one free quiz session. The free trial does not require a payment method and expires once that session is used.

4.2 Pro subscription

A paid Pro subscription gives you unlimited quiz sessions. Billing is monthly and charged in advance. Prices are shown on the pricing page and include VAT where applicable.

4.3 Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Billing portal in your dashboard. Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for partial months, except where required by law.

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, if you are a consumer (not a business customer) you have a 14-day right to cancel a subscription from the date of purchase, provided you have not used the Service during that period. To exercise this right, contact us at hello@pubtrivia.app.

4.4 Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms. We do not store your card details.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
• Upload or transmit content that is defamatory, obscene, or infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
• Resell, sublicence, or otherwise commercialise access to the Service without our written consent.
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

You retain ownership of any question packs or other content you create using the Service. By uploading content you grant us a limited licence to store and display it as necessary to provide the Service.

Question packs marked as “public” may be visible to other users of the platform. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you upload.

All software, design, branding, and pre-loaded question content within the Service is owned by or licensed to PubTrivia. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PubTrivia is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunity.

Our total liability to you in any 12-month period will not exceed the amount you paid us during that period.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not responsible for downtime caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including third-party service failures (e.g. Supabase, Stripe, Vercel).

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless you are a consumer in another part of the UK in which case the applicable local law may apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify account holders of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
