Guest entertainment with a new crowd every week

This is the one venue type where repetition is not a problem. A pub cannot reuse a round, because the same eleven teams are sitting there. A hotel can reuse everything, because the people in the lounge on Wednesday have never been in the building before.

So the hard part of running a weekly quiz, finding new questions forever, mostly goes away. A set of rounds you know works can be run all season, which is a substantial difference in the amount of work a quiz night costs you.

Guest entertainment gets grandparents, parents and children at the same table, which rules out a lot of a normal pub quiz. A round pitched at thirty-year-olds loses two thirds of the room.

General Knowledge and Food & Drink travel across ages; Pop Culture and Music need watching, because they are usually written for one generation and read as unanswerable to the others. Team mode helps here more than anywhere: a table of six spanning fifty years between them will cover each other's blind spots, and that is half the fun of it.

The person running Wednesday's quiz is often not the person who ran last Wednesday's, and may be doing it for the first time. A host view that needs explaining is a host view that will be got wrong in front of eighty guests.

The setup is a pack, a number of questions, and a start button, with each question launched by hand. There is nothing to configure on the night and nothing that can be left in a broken state for the next person.

Team mode by table works, and team mode by room number works better in a hotel: guests already know their room number, it is unambiguous, and it saves the five minutes in which forty people try to think of something funny.

Print the codes once for the tables in the lounge and they are permanent, so the weekly setup is genuinely just picking a pack.
